The New Jersey State Button Society was founded in 1941. At that time, a nationwide interest in button collecting was surging. Many iconic authors of classic books on button collecting (past and present) have been members of the New Jersey State Button Society. We continue to study, collect, and enjoy garment buttons from the present and centuries past. We have a Spring and Fall Show every May and September, held at the Union Fire Co. building, 1396 River Road, Titusville NJ 08560.

Annual dues are $15, which includes two bulletins issued in the Spring and Fall. Send checks made out to NJSBS to Membership Chair Renee Ditzenberger, 415 Millstone River Rd., Belle Mead, NJ 08502-5611. Donations to NJSBS are not tax deductible.

The NJSBS is a member of the National Button Society, whose dues are $35 annually, payable to NBS Membership, c/o Helen Acker, PO Box 459, Oldsmar FL 34677-0459 www.nationalbuttonsociety.org

OUR HISTORY

The year 2026 will mark our 85th Anniversary. New Jersey button collecting pioneers – men and women interested in learning more about buttons – started the New Jersey State Button Society on March 27, 1941. During this period, a nationwide interest in button collecting was surging. Many iconic authors of classic books on button collecting (past & present) come from New Jersey.

Our shows promote sharing button information with our members and guests. We are governed by elected officers and a board of directors.

Our Newsletter is published semi-annually. It keeps us informed of show dates, competition categories and prize winners. Also included is at least one article on buttons, with color images.

In addition to the State Society, we have four local clubs.

N.J.S.B.S. is a member of the National Button Society which holds an annual show in a different state each year.
