
Our dear button friend, Dorothy Cynthia Bartlett, passed away on December 16, 2024. The short summary of her life is posted on the funeral home’s web page.
A born teacher, Cynthia Bartlett always looked for the best in everyone and tried to pass on credit to others. In 2017, beginning a two-year term as president of the New Jersey State Button Society, she agreed to serve “as a tribute to the individuals who have devoted so much time to encouraging me to grow.”
Though she had many daunting life challenges, she always rejoiced that she always had her hobby to turn to. A loyal member of the New Jersey State Button Society, and her local club (Central Jersey Buttoniers) she also belonged to the National Button Society. Cynthia was devoted to the work of Bound Brook United Methodist Church and among the treasures of her collection were buttons that told Bible stories. She was also a longtime member of the Bridgewater Garden Club.
Cynthia is survived by her daughter Patricia (McCarthy) Little of Bound Brook; son-in-law James Coans of Somerset, NJ; two grandchildren Bonnie Rogers (Blake) of Winfield, WV and Jeff Little of Franklinville, NJ; six great-grandkids and one great-great grandson; three nieces and four nephews; 13 great-nieces\nephews; stepdaughter Catherine Barrett (John) of Okatie, SC; step-grandchildren Kaitlin Barrett of Okatie, SC, Courtenay Kelly (Austin) of California and Kyle Barrett (Lauren) of Madison, NJ; and one step-greatgrandson.
The family suggests that In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy Cynthia Bartlett’s honor to the United Methodist Church in Bound Brook, the New Jersey State Button Society, or the Bridgewater Garden Club. Contributions to the New Jersey State Button Society in Cynthia’s memory may be mailed to Renee Ditzenberger, 415 Millstone River Road, Belle Mead NJ 08502-5611.
